Aurelia Aparicio was born in Zacatecas, Mexico in 1952. Her family immigrated to The United States in 1961 through the Bracero Program. Her first art show was on a bulletin board at her elementary school in San Fernando, California. Aurelia’s paintings are mainly portraits of her immediate and extended family members. Being the mother of five children, she feels that the act of recording and depicting the lives of her family gives voice to those she loves and it is the focus of her work. Aurelia is currently learning to play the piano, and she hopes to play music during her art exhibitions. |
